Proud to be part of

Safeguarding

Abbey Woods Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We all work together to create and maintain a safe, happy environment for the children at our school.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in our school is Mrs Sophie Charter. She can be contacted via the main school office or by emailing headteacher@abbeywoods.anthemtrust.uk

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility at Abbey Woods Academy. All staff know that it is their responsibility to promote the welfare of the children within our care, and they know how to report any concerns that they have.

Identifying any worries or concerns at an early stage is key so that intervention can be implemented at the earliest opportunity. Our priority is to ensure that children feel happy and safe, that their needs are being met both at home and school and that children know who to talk to if they feel worried about something.

We have a set of clear policies and procedures for safeguarding children, which are outlined in our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy on the Policies page of this website.

Taking and using photos at school

When your child starts Abbey Woods Academy, we ask parents/carers to complete a permission form to allow images of your child to be published by the school on the school's website and social media accounts, in newsletters and other publications, and sometimes promotional materials. The photos may also be used for similar purposes by our Trust, Anthem.

You can change your parental preference at any time by contacting the school office.

Taking and using of photos or other digital images by parents and carers

We are happy for parents and carers to take photos and videos at school events for personal use, but please could we remind you that these images must not be shared or put online (e.g. on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc) unless they are only of your own children. This is to safeguard all members of the school community.
